Photo Friday

Meet the newest member of the...laundry closet. Hardly a family member. Even if it claims "Brother", it's more like distant cousin at best.

After exposing my crafting wariness, I'm turning right around to show you my recent CraigsList purchase. Trying to sew a new talent, I picked this baby up for $40. I know the word "bobbin", but other than that I know next to nothing about sewing. And what with a 27 stitch capacity I was a little intimidated to just look at the thing.

But my kind sewing diva friend, Emily, gave me a little tutorial, and I'm getting excited to do something so domestic. (That Homeward Bound book must be still on the brain.)

Task 1: repair little hole in the knee of Seth's jeans.
Task 2: try turning old curtains into a tablecloth.
Task 3: try this adorable apron?
Task 3: maybe try a few more straight lines first with this skinny tie pattern from See Kate Sew.

Matching little skinny ties for the boys' church repertoire? Yes please.

Any easy project suggestions, websites or sewing 101 tips for a beginner?

  2. This is literally the only thing I know how to sew, but it's super easy, and if you have any friends with babies or coming soon, makes a great gift!

  3. WOOT!! Good plans! I would love to help with your projects too! And matching ties would be adorable! I haven't made anything other than bow ties for Lincoln, so maybe we can have a skinny tie making party sometime :)
